About 5.15 or 5.20 pm
I heard the telephone bell ring. I can't say when the last shot
was fired inside the Station.
Neither before nor after he switched on the alarm, did 1 see
the Station Guard fire any shots. I saw a bunch of keys in his
hand, but his revolver was in its holster. He ran straight from
the alarm switch into his barrack room. I did not see him do
any thing else. I didn't see him lock the iron grilla-gate
leading on to verandah.
There was no watch or clock in our room.

To Jury: "I did not see any indian police constable appear
when the alarm rang. I have orders when the alarm goes in the
day time to fall in in the charge room. On this occasion I ran

7. Ip Lam deod. "I am seaman W.52 stationed at Lok Ma Chau.
On 21st July I was on reserve at the Station and about 5
p.m.
I was whitening my sun hat just outside our barrack room and
beside the charge room. 1 heard two shots fired outside. 1 saw
last witness, the Station coolie, and our cook come rushing th
through the passage by the charge Room and bolt into our room.
I rushed in after them. I did not see the Station Guard.
I heard the alarm but didn't see who switched it on. I heard
further shots fired in rapid succession - I couldn't tell where.
The last shot was fired between 9 & 10 p.m., but I can't say
whether it was fired inside the Station or outside. I heard no
sound overhead. I heard the telephone bell go about † an hour
after the first shots. I had no watch. I stayed in our barrack
room until the rescue party arrived."
